Imagine my excitement on 8 April 2010 when 2 more eggs began to crack and hatch. This has been a full 42 days after the first egg hatched on 25 Feb 2010!
One egg has a tiny crack showing its intact egg membrane.
The other egg has some blood oozing out. The master hatcher opened some of its egg shell. Lo and behold, there is a baby turtle swimming inside the watery egg sac covered with red blood vessels. The baby looks formed already with its black markings. The watery sac pulsates. It sometimes turns over as though doing a somersault in a swimming pool.
Till 16 April, a full 8 days later, the 2 eggs are still "hatching" with a very slow progress. Wait for more news!
Update on 1 May 2010 : The cracked egg is found to be without an embryo. The opened egg did not survive.
